Dadan MCP connects your Dadan account to AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor and Visual Studio Code. Once it’s connected, you can ask your assistant to find videos, read transcripts, write meeting notes or set up a recording request in plain language, without opening each video.
What you can do
Link to section: What you can do- Find videos by what was said in them, and quote the exact moment.
- Turn a recording into notes with a Dadan note-taker template, such as Meeting minutes or MEDDIC.
- Ask how to do something in Dadan. Your assistant searches this Help Center and links the article it used.
- Create a recording request link with your instructions and destination folder.
- Check your plan usage, captions, captured leads and video analytics.
Most assistants ask you to confirm before anything in your account changes. Read each request before you approve it.
Before you start
Link to section: Before you start- Your Dadan account. You sign in with the same account you use for Dadan.
- One of the assistants below. On business plans, an admin may need to allow custom connectors or MCP servers first.
- For notes, summaries and translations, the video needs a transcript.
Connect your assistant
Link to section: Connect your assistantEvery assistant uses the same connection URL. You don’t need an API key: when you’re asked, sign in with your Dadan account.
https://mcp.dadan.io/mcpClaude (web and desktop app)
Link to section: Claude (web and desktop app)- Open Customize › Connectors.
- Select Add, then Custom › Web.
- Name it Dadan and paste the connection URL.
- Select Connect and sign in to Dadan.
Free plans can add one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds Dadan for the organization, then members select Connect.
Claude Code
Link to section: Claude CodeRun this in your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http dadan https://mcp.dadan.io/mcpThen run /mcp in Claude Code and choose Dadan to sign in. Add --scope user to the command to use Dadan in every project.
ChatGPT
Link to section: ChatGPT- On chatgpt.com, open Plugins and select +.
- Choose Add custom MCP server, paste the connection URL and choose OAuth.
- Sign in to Dadan when you’re prompted.
Availability depends on your ChatGPT plan and workspace settings. In business workspaces, an admin may need to enable it.
Codex (CLI and IDE extension)
Link to section: Codex (CLI and IDE extension)Run these in your terminal:
codex mcp add dadan --url https://mcp.dadan.io/mcp
codex mcp login dadanThe second command starts the Dadan sign-in. In the Codex IDE extension, open the gear menu › MCP servers › Add server, choose Streamable HTTP, paste the connection URL, save and restart the extension, then select Authenticate.
Cursor
Link to section: CursorAdd this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json to use Dadan in all projects, or to .cursor/mcp.json for one project:
{
"mcpServers": {
"dadan": { "url": "https://mcp.dadan.io/mcp" }
}
}Cursor shows a sign-in prompt next to the server. Complete the Dadan sign-in in your browser.
Visual Studio Code (GitHub Copilot)
Link to section: Visual Studio Code (GitHub Copilot)Save this as .vscode/mcp.json, or run MCP: Add Server from the Command Palette and choose HTTP:
{
"servers": {
"dadan": { "type": "http", "url": "https://mcp.dadan.io/mcp" }
}
}Use Copilot Chat in agent mode. On Copilot Business or Enterprise, an admin must allow MCP servers first.
Try these first
Link to section: Try these first- “What’s my Dadan plan and usage?”
- “Search my Dadan videos for onboarding.”
- “Show the transcript of my latest Dadan video and list the action items.”
These three only need to read from your account.
Stay in control
Link to section: Stay in control- By default, connecting gives your assistant broad access to your Dadan account. It can read and change your library, using your account’s permissions. To let it only search and read, tick Read-only on the Dadan sign-in page when you connect.
- The Dadan sign-in page names the app that will receive access. Only continue if it’s the assistant you are connecting.
- Some actions are visible to other people, such as making a video public, creating a share link or sending the meeting bot to a call. Approve them only when you mean to.
- Transcription, summaries, meeting notes and translations use your plan’s AI credits.
- Your assistant also sees text written by other people, such as viewers’ form answers and meeting transcripts. Be careful if that text contains instructions.
- To disconnect, remove Dadan in your assistant’s connector settings. To delete connection data held by Dadan, contact support.
Troubleshooting
Link to section: TroubleshootingThe assistant can’t connect. Check that the URL ends with /mcp.
Dadan asks you to reconnect. Remove Dadan from that assistant and connect it again.
Your assistant says the Dadan connection is read-only. You ticked Read-only when you connected. To allow changes, remove Dadan from your assistant and connect again without ticking it.
You can’t find custom connectors or MCP servers. Your plan or your workspace admin may not allow them yet.
Sign-in says the link only works in the browser where you started. Start connecting again from your assistant and finish the sign-in in the browser it opens. Don’t copy the sign-in link to another browser or device.
Notes or summaries fail. The video needs a transcript first. Ask your assistant to transcribe it and say which language is spoken.
The meeting bot joined straight away. The bot joins as soon as you ask. Ask when the meeting starts, and admit the bot from the waiting room.
