Adding chapters to your dadan video

Chapters help viewers navigate your video by dividing it into labeled sections with timestamps. This feature is especially useful for tutorials, presentations, and demos, allowing audiences to quickly find relevant content.

This guide explains how to add, edit, and manage chapters in your dadan videos to enhance accessibility and engagement.

• Note: Dadan chapters’ feature relies on the video AI Transcript. You’ll need to generate the transcript first, as it provides the foundation for other tools like AI Titles and Summaries. Otherwise, these features will create the video AI Transcript before proceeding.

How to add chapters to your dadan video #

To add chapters to your dadan video, you’ll need to define timestamps and labels for each section, making it easier for viewers to jump to key moments.

Adding chapters manually #

Follow these steps to add chapters manually:

1. In the dadan app (app.dadan.io), select the video where you want to add chapters. The video playback screen will open.

2. Scroll down, on the right, click the Chapters icon in the Edit Your Video box.

3. The Video Chapters box will open allowing you to add new chapters.

4. Click Add New Chapter to manually add new chapters to your video.

5. Click the timestamp box “00:00” to set the timestamp for the chapter.

6. Click the Enter Chapter Name box to give your chapter a name for easy identification.

7. Click Add New Chapter again to continue adding new chapters.

8. Click the Trash icon if you need to delete a chapter.

Adding chapters using AI #

If you prefer to add chapters using AI, follow these steps:

Note: To generate chapters using AI, the video must contain spoken audio in any language. Silent videos or those without speech cannot be transcribed.

1. Click Generate chapters using AI to automatically generate chapters using AI technology.

2. A message box will prompt you to transcribe your video. Click the Transcribe Your Video? button.

• Note: If you have previously created a transcript for your video, the AI will generate chapters directly. Click the Use This Chapters button and skip the next step.

3. Choose the transcript language and click Generate Transcript.

4. Both your video transcription and chapters are ready. Click Use This Chapters to apply it to your video.

5. You can manually edit or delete any chapter by clicking the delete icon next to it.

6. Click Save to apply and save your chapter settings.

Viewing chapters on your video #

Once you’ve added chapters to your dadan video, viewers can easily navigate between sections using the chapter markers. This helps them jump to key moments without watching the entire video.

Here is how to view and use chapters while watching a video:

1. Click the Chapters icon below the video.

2. The chapters dropdown menu will appear. Select a chapter to jump directly to that section of the video.

3. To switch to a different chapter, reopen the dropdown menu and select another chapter.
